Re-visiting My Why

click here to pre-save the new album, if you haven't already With the busyness of what's going on with releasing our first album, It's really easy to forget why I wanted to do this. Which is funny, because the name of the album is literally Choose To Run . So how did I get so caught up in the process that I forgot why I chose to run ?🤣 For those who aren't aware, I'd stopped making music for like a couple of years as a result of the discouragement I faced trying to build a fanbase & building something that I'd be confident in. So I had an 'aptitude' for the music, but not the drive for it. So I just gave up and tried to put my all elsewhere. But for some reason, I just couldn't bring that part of myself out. I had such an unintentional devotion to it that it messed me up a little bit to transfer that elsewhere. And even when I did, it felt like I wasn't willing to pay the cost that came with anything else aside from music. Everything became ...

BTB: Ralph Lauren Ties

A few months back, Chukwudum and I were discussing ideas for the album. And he came up with a cool idea: Naming each song after the imaginary things we wanted as kids. He came up with A LOT of things, and I really couldn't come up with anything from my childhood that I wanted. I thought about it for a few days, and I wondered why I couldn't come up with anything. It wasn't until later I realized it's because I hated watching most  of the cartoons that had imaginary things, PLUS most of the stuff I wanted as a kid I ended up getting. The one thing I REALLY loved as kid though was ties . My Mom always told me stories about how I'd run to the ties/suit section at most stores. Fun-fact about me: Most of my childhood pictures I'm usually wearing a suit and tie. I think the one thing I wanted as a kid was more ties, so I decided to put " Ralph Lauren Tie " on the list. When I made the beat, I really liked it because I used a technique to make the sample more...

8 DEGREES: Behind The Beat

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Azụrho (@stillazurho) - Rhoro What up y'all? It's Rhoro here today, and I'm here to tell you the story behind the beat. The day before I made the beat. I was wrestling with a few of the massive decisions I made (studying a my particular degree ( if you know, you know ), applying to jobs then getting rejected or ghosted). I was also struggling with my time management a lot, just the sheer weight of missing the opportunity to be there for people. I genuinely didn't have access to a bus-pass either, so it was all weighing down on me mentally. The guilt was getting to me that week, so on Sunday. I decided to turn on a livestream from my Church (FAC, shoutout to my FA people!) and the sermon was titled "2 Roads, 1 Way" by Ben Johnson. Pastor Ben spoke about how the Christian path is narrow and difficult to traverse, but it is the right way, and that's all that matters. I made the (uncomfortable) ...

April's Updates!

- Rhoro. FIRST OFF . Give my dawg Chukwudum his damn flowers for his FIRST mixtape! (I got mentioned so I feel very special ) March was a special month for the both of us, we released our personal projects and received critical acclaim, both from friends and family. And to that, I say an EMPHATIC THANK YOU! New month: new levels, new devils (hopefully not, but you get the picture). New Release: Yekini (coming on the 5th.. SAVE THE DATE) This should be one of like 2 releases coming out before our new EP... yes, yes we got a whole EP coming out bro. All in all, we so up! yes WE. YOU included. We're up. Stay tuned.

Care 4 Urself.

-Chukwudum. I have very little self belief in myself. Which often comes as a fundamental contradiction to most people that have met me. So what does this mean for someone who's enthralled with art? It means that I, in turn, refuse to believe in what I create. Art is a reflection of what we think about our own perception of everything. So in making music, something so deeply personal, I find myself constantly second guessing. Now, if one found themselves working with one of the best young producers in the world and also being completely new at making music, the bridge between being 'okay' and being absolutely terrible feels insurmountable. I was on the phone with TOBi, a Canadian artist from Brampton who's helped me a lot in terms of laying the basis for my musical journey. I asked him what it was like, selling his own mixtapes out the back of his car. Now he got a couple albums and awards. So why not ask an extremely emotionally intelligent winner how to get my own feet...

Midas' Touch

why a solo release, aren't you guys a duo? I realized that I had to hold my weight when it came to making music. So I decided to do my own solo project so that we (AzuRho) KNOW we can hold our weight on our own before working together. It's a sign of my dedication to making music. This was more of a " get-a-solo-release-over-with " release. It was designed to be a demo; to showcase my ability, knowing what I'm good at, what I'm NOT good at, building a story with just instrumentals etc.  why the name Midas' Touch? Shoutout Addy (@ 9addys ) for the inspiration, I was looking through his works and he had a particular artwork called "midas touch" and I was like "that's the term I'm looking for". So I asked permission to use one of his artworks as a cover for this particular mixtape/EP. why 2 sides? couldn't one side work just fine? The Prelude:  ( link ) was just a random drop. I needed to drop all the music I made off. Most of ...

Okay okay!

SALAMI EGGS AND BACON. We're back. It's Chukwudum of AzuRho (micro)fame and I just really wish to say thank you. So far, so good. For the uninformed, AzuRho is a musical project born from the minds of two obsessive black youth. Rhoro and I. Last time I wrote on this blog, it was a breakdown of the audiovisual project Dare. Now, I kinda do want to break down Omnitrix, but I also want to express gratitude. Since the beginning of the project, we've: Gotten love (always important) Done some open mics Released a song! Some, other things we've been working on. This has been the longest month and a half of my life, personally, so I'm gonna tackle these topics one by one.  Omnitrix: Omnitrix is, unfortunately, about the hypocrisy I used to see amongst older men in church. Well the chorus I wrote in a couple of minutes. It's about lying and my own questions about being a musician. I used to believe being rich was what would bring me peace, and even though I know it's...

BHM Tribute: Frankie

Image
1 MONTH SINCE THE FIRST POST! (Time is passing way too fast y'all I'm scared) Forgot how to make this blog UI dark mode friendly (my bad y'all LMFAO). But today we're doing a super important record to me. Unfortunately, it's not on any streaming platforms . Every week I'll be doing a lot of black artists/musicians. I vividly remember one summer night, I was skimming through old 90s R&B records. At the time, I was super inspired by Sonder's and Tory Lanez' sample selection on Chixtape 4 (more specifically I wanted my beats to sound like "Proud Family", "Slow Down", and "Differences"). So I'd go through Omar Kaan's channel to find some HEAT. But then I see this interesting album pop up. I was 'fresh' off a devastating situationship (I saw the girl EXACTLY where I first met her on a random Thursday after claiming I was healed). I was worried about becoming an adult, worried about things an 18-year old SHOULD...

In the tide of things.

by Oghenerhoro Williams Getting back into the flow of things (musically) might be one of the best things that ever happened to me. 2026's already been a massive blessing to me, I managed to get all of my goals for the first 6 complete. God has been favoring me a lot, and no word of a lie, it's almost terrifying how much support I've been receiving from friends (and Chuk ESPECIALLY, we recently discussed the anxiety that being perceived causes me). I'm so excited for what's to come in the next few weeks with us. Chukwudum JUST got done with his cameo @ Acid Jazz. I'm so proud of him (WE proud of him, he an all-star), it's super inspiring to see him pursue success at the level he is, makes me want to output and create more!

I'm shameless, yet very afraid of posting.

by Chukwudum Anozie See life hey? Last week Rhoro and I released DARE, in very uncomfortable fashion. Some of you I've told this story to, others I haven't, but I thought here is the best place for me to share the story. For those that know me, you know that I'm unfortunately unafraid of shame or embarrassment. Many believe it's because I'm overconfident or have just never been told to shut up. On the contrary, I've simply embarrassed myself so many times in so many situations I just don't feel it anymore. Even so, there are times where even I have to admit that I'm too scared to post. Art is one of them. I've always hated the idea of 'doing art' from a personal perspective. I made videos in high-school I couldn't wait to delete. Drawn figures that have long since decomposed. Written poems so ignored the ink itself catches dust-bunnies. The idea of revealing myself past hoping some people find me funny is deeply troubling. Art is not only...

by Rhoro Iyeke One of my main struggles is understanding the level of freewill I have with this particular project. I hadn't had much of it while working in the past with other great artists, because, as far as I saw it, my art existed to develop their world; not mine. So now that I'm in a space where the music exists to build my world, it feels a bit strange I won't lie. But it's liberating. Really, really liberating. I can't wait to show y'all what we work on.

Shaun Martin (A Tribute)

So it's approaching about 2 years without the late, great Shaun Martin. Most people don't really know about him and his impact on gospel music as a whole. So all I'll say is, if you listened to Kirk Franklin's music. You've heard Shaun Martin. He was a composer, pianist, and arranger of a good portion of early 2000s black gospel music. Here are some of my favorites. the list (in no particular order): Kim Burrell - Anything : I've been revisiting this particular album recent. And man, if you actually watched the VHS live recording. You can see a young Shaun Martin acting a fool with the circus riff , it's so hilarious you can tell EVERYONE was genuinely embarrassed by the riff bro.😭😭😭

what we on?

what's good? welcome to the new blog page. it's rhoro (@ nigeriansosaa ) + chuk (@ ca_anozie ).  this one's special, this one's dedicated to the work myself + chuk'll put out; it's an insight to our creative process and what inspires us n what not. remain blessed + stay tuned.
