Care 4 Urself.

-Chukwudum.
I have very little self belief in myself. Which often comes as a fundamental contradiction to most people that have met me. So what does this mean for someone who's enthralled with art? It means that I, in turn, refuse to believe in what I create. Art is a reflection of what we think about our own perception of everything. So in making music, something so deeply personal, I find myself constantly second guessing. Now, if one found themselves working with one of the best young producers in the world and also being completely new at making music, the bridge between being 'okay' and being absolutely terrible feels insurmountable.

I was on the phone with TOBi, a Canadian artist from Brampton who's helped me a lot in terms of laying the basis for my musical journey. I asked him what it was like, selling his own mixtapes out the back of his car. Now he got a couple albums and awards. So why not ask an extremely emotionally intelligent winner how to get my own feet on the ground? Here was the result; A 7 (.5) track ep that's ultimately made and curated by me. Based on the sounds that have helped me over the last 18 months, and the influences that I've embraced, but mostly for myself. This project is ultimately self affirmation. A little letter to myself to sit down and look myself in the eye to say 'You need to accept you like doing this, and you can.' Which is difficult. Admittedly, I look deep into my own eyes and wonder what the hell I'm doing often. By my own metrics of life, art should be the last thing I'm doing, let alone music. But here I am still, which means there's something pulling myself to it, and that's what I need to start running towards. That's why I wanted to start caring for myself. Simple.
